German commercial broadcaster RTL and pay-television Sky Germany have secured two remaining packages of Germany’s top tier football leagues for the next four years.RTL will show all 1. Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga highlights on Monday evenings. The football show will run on 10:00 pm on their FTA (free-to-air) channel on RTL Nitro.
The live rights cover 28 of 40 Germany matches between 2018 and 2022, including the new Uefa Nations League competition.
RTL will also cover all test matches from this period.
According to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung newspaper, RTL will pay an around €5m per game
Sky Germany will show highlights of 2. Bundesliga on Friday and Sunday evenings. Great news for football fans, bacause higlights will run on Sky Sport News HD, which will become FTA channel in December.
Although lot of commercial broadcasters have showed interest for Bundesliga rights this sommer, Sky Germany remains the home of football in Germany.
