With the new agreement with European Broadcasting Union (EBU), Eurosport secures a series of top athletics events over the next four years.
Agreement starts with the 2016 European Athletics Championships in Amsterdam from July 6-10, and also includes the 2017 and 2019 European Athletics Indoor Championships, as well as the 2017, 2018 and 2019 European Athletics Team Championships.
“Eurosport has firmly established itself as the destination of choice for fans of Olympic sports on a year-round basis,” Eurosport Chief Executive Officer Peter Hutton said in his statement.
“This deal demonstrates our commitment to athletics and the Olympic movement as we look forward to beginning our coverage of the Olympic Games across Europe in two years’ time.”
Jonathan Edwards, the triple jump legend, has signed a contract as Eurosport’s Lead Presenter and will head up the channel’s flagship programming from 2016, including the Olympic Games from 2018.

Eurosport has already IAAF Diamond League rights in the UK, Germany and Asia-Pacific Eurosport.
Together with media and entertainment company Discovery Communications, its parent company, Eurosport has last year acquired rights in 50 European markets to four editions of the Olympic Games, from 2018 to 2024.
