It’s time for FIFA Club World Cup Qatar 2019™ where the seven clubs from six confederations fight to be crowned world champions! The tournament will open Hienghène Sport when they face the Qatari champions and host nation representatives Al Sadd SC on Wednesday, 11 December at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium.
The teams participating:
- Al Sadd (Host)
- Hienghene Sport (OFC)
- Liverpool (UEFA)
- Monterrey (Concacaf)
- Esperance (CAF)
- Al-Hilal (AFC)
- Flamengo (Copa Libertadores)
This is the third appearance in the competition for Liverpool, first since 2005, after Real Madrid participated three years in the row as UEFA Champions League winner. Monterrey is also known club in this competition since this is their fourth time at Club World Cup. Al Hilal will enter the competition in the second round and face Esperance Sportive de Tunis on December 14 as a match Asia vs Africa.
It is already guaranteed that we will see a new club lifting the trophy. The last time we saw a new name etched into the record books as champions was Bayern Munich in 2013.
The FIFA Club World Cup 2021 will be in China with a new format. Instead of seven, 24 teams from six confederations will compete and, another change, the tournament won’t be in December, yet in June and July. This will replace the FIFA Confederations Cup.
The media already mentioned some names from the qualified team that will be interesting for the fans and worth keeping an eye out for like Liverpool players Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, Baghdad Bounedjah who already had an incredible year with Algeria and Al Sadd. For Monterrey’s Rogelio Funes Mori, critics say that he finds routes to goal where others wouldn’t consider, and suggest to look at Tunisian wing wizard Anice Badri.
One this is sure, if you bring together the best clubs from all the continents, there will be some outstanding individuals.
