The new year will start with a major event when Germany and Denmark will host the 2019 World Men’s Handball Championship. The tournament will be the 26th event, held in six cities of Germany and Denmark between January 9 and 27.
France, who have won the 2015 (Doha) and 2017 (Paris) World Championship editions will be once again the hot favourites in the event.
World champions France are in Group A which also includes Russia, Germany, Serbia, Brazil and a unified Korean team, which will participate for the first time. Group B comprises Spain, Croatia, Macedonia, Iceland, Bahrain and Japan while co-hosts Denmark spearhead Group C that also has Norway, Austria, Tunisia, Chile and Saudi Arabia. Sweden, the world champion of the 1999 edition, are in Group D along with Angola, Egypt, Hungary, Qatar and Argentina.
The final round begins on 25th of January with the semifinals, a knockout system will be used here. All venues have a capacity of more than 10,000 spectators.

Handball World Championship 2019 live on TV
Unfortunately there will be no live coverage of the Handball World Championship in the UK. German public broadcasters ARD and ZDF will transmit the matches of the German national team at the 2019 World Handball Championship. In addition to live coverage of the matches of the German team, the tv contract also include footage from all other matches of the Men’s Handball World Championships. Eurosport will show up to 15 games without German participation live in Free-TV. Through Astra (19.2° East) and Eutelsat Hotbird (13° E)
