The FIFA Club World Cup 2018 gets underway on Wednesday, 12th December. The 15th edition of the competition is being hosted by the United Arab Emirates this year. Taking place in the cities of Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, this year’s FIFA Club World Cup will feature the six continental club champions from the UEFA (Real Madrid), CONMEBOL (River Plate), AFC (Kashima Antlers), CAF (Espérance de Tunis), CONCACAF (CD Guadalajara) and OFC (Team Wellington FC), along with Arabian Gulf League champions Al Ain FC.
J-League powerhouse Kashima Antlers begin their Club World Cup campaign on Saturday, 15th of December against Chivas Guadalajara at Al Ain’s Hazza bin Zayed Stadium. The winner will advance to the semi-finals and will face UEFA Champions League winners Real Madrid.
Real Madrid and River Plate, who defeated arch-rivals Boca Juniors in the relocated and rearranged Copa final 3-1, will take their place in the semi-finals. And of course, Real Madrid will be aiming to complete a hat-trick of FIFA Club World Cup triumphs.
Real’s manager Solari included both Casemiro and Nacho in this squad list even though they might not be quite ready to play. Regardless, all the other Real Madrid stars like Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Sergio Ramos, Karim Benzema or Gareth Bale are going to play at the FIFA Club World Cup 2018.
