UK Pay-TV broadcaster has made a deal and become the exclusive Formula 1 rights holder in the United Kingdom and Ireland from 2019. The deal will run for six years, through to 2024.

From 2017, the championship will also be available on Sky in UHD definition via Sky Q service, with the dedicated Sky Sports F1 channel which launched in 2012.
Sky will show exclusive live coverage of every grand prix of the season. The british grand prix with highlights and dedicated prerace analysis will be also shown by Sky on a free-to-air basis.
Sky has also announced the launch of Sky Sports Mix chanel, which will be available to Sky subscribers who do not have a sports package. Channel will show at least two other primetime live races per season.
Sky already shows live coverage of every race, but Channel 4 started this year a three-year deal this season and shows 10 races per season. Channel 4 picked up the rights after BBC has decided to gave up it’s rights earlier due to budget cuts.
For the German TV viewers the extension of the contract brings no changes, and Formula remains on RTL, and it will remain to broadcast the Championship for free.
Last week, the Catalan public service broadcaster, TV 3, has struck a sublicesing deal for Formula One championship with Spanish Telefonica. TV3 will show coverage of the popular motorsport world championship after an agreement with Spanish pay-TV broadcaster Movistar +, who holds the rights to competition. TV3 will show entirely the Spanish Grand Prix, held in Barcelona in May.
