Sport1 Secures UEFA Europa League Until 2018

The St. Jakob-Park in Basel will host the UEFA Europa Leagua final on 18. May 2016. Last year winner, FC Sevilla, plays in Champions League, but teams like Borrusia Dortmund, FC Liverpooll, Schalke 04 are guaranteeing great football every Thursday night.

UEFA Europa League in Germany on FTA (free-to-air) TV 

Great news for all football fans in Germany. Sport1 has acquired a three-year package of UEFA European League TV rights starting next season. Sport1 will cover one game of Europa League per week live on TV, and as live stream on sport1.de.

Football live on satellite TV today

The deal includes 15 matchdays: 6 groups matches, home and away games in knock-out phase and final in Basel. Deal also includes highlights rights to all matches on TV, online and mobile devices.

Europa League matchday will be covered with early pre-match coverage and long post-match expert analyses. 

Markus Höhner will be the commentator with Laura Wontora as a moderator. Studio presenter and names of football experts will be announced soon. Sport 1 will also have a “first pick” for German market.

The German free-to-air rights have previously been held by Kabel eins. This win is significant step forward for Sport1 on positioning on German TV market.

For satellite viewers Sport1 is available on Astra 19.2°E satellite position as a free-to-air channel.
