Futsal is growing sports worldwide and is no showing the signs of slowing up. Although it's not the most popular spectator sport, it's definitely one of the most practiced. Futsal can be played anywhere and anytime and is currently played in 198 of the 207 FIFA member associations

The origin of Futsal can be traced back to Uruguay, in 1930 when Juan carlos Ceriani created a five-a-side version of soccer for youth competition. Brazil is considered today as a home of futsal, but great futsal is played, under the auspieces of FIFA, in more than 100 countries worldwide.

The name FUTSAL comes from Spanish or Portuguese word FUTbol or FUTebol, and the Spanish worg for "indoor", Sala. The first international competition took place in 1965, when Paraguay won the first South American Cup.

PFL exhibition games will start in the United States next year, followed by the first full season in 2018. Maybe we can see an alliance with the National Basketball League in next years.

Italy is one of the strongest futsal teams in Europe, champions in the 2003 UEFA Futsal Championship and UEFA Futsal Euro 2014. Italian Futsal League is covered on Rai Sport Italia, which is available as FTA broadcaster via Hotbird 13°E satellite position.

Russian futsal Superleague is the premier professional futsal league in Russia. It was founded in 1991. League is played under UEFA rules and currently consists of 14 teams.

Futsal clubs like Dina Moscow, the 3-times European club championship an Intercontinental Cup winner, Dinamo Moscow, UEFA Futsal Cup 2006–07 winner and Viz-Sinara Ekaterinburg, UEFA Futsal Cup 2007–08 winner show the power of this league.
