Astra 19.2°E – Sport1 will cover DEL free-to-air in Germany

Great news for ice hockey fans! Free-to-air broadcaster Sport1 has acquired the TV rights for the Deutsche Hockey League and will cover at least 40 games per season in next four seasons.

Deal also includes TV and media “DEL Winter Game” 2017 and 2019.

This season, Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) was covered in Germany and Austria by free-to-air broadcaster Servus TV and Laola.TV as stream. Servus TV covers ussualy Sunday afternoon matches.

In January this year, Deutsche Telekom has secured the DEL transmission rights on their Entertain IPTV, PCs, Tablets and smarthphones. Together with transmission rights, Deutsche Telekom has also won all media and advertisement rights.

Only three months later, they have decided to sell free-to-air rights to Sport1, who was mentioned as a biggest favorite and potential buyer in January.

Sport1 Germany is available as freetoair broadcasters via Astra 19.2°E satellite position on frequency 12480 V with symbol rate 27500 and FEC correction 3/4

Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) is a German professional ice hockey league that was founded in 1994. It was formed as a replacement for the Ice hockey Bundesliga and became the new top-tier league in Germany.

Unlike the old Bundesliga, the DEL is not under the administration of the German Ice Hockey Federation. The DEL currently has the highest number of American and Canadian players outside North America. (source)

Sky Austria and Servus TV share Austrian market

Austria’s Eishockey Liga has agreed rights deals with pay-television broadcaster Sky Austria and Servus TV.

Sky has returned to partner the Austrian Hockey League having previously broadcast the competition from 2003-04 to 2009-10.

Sky has agreed a five-season deal, running from 2016-17 to 2020-21, through which it will broadcast more than 50 games per season as the league’s exclusive pay-television partner.

Servus TV, the German commercial broadcaster owned by energy drinks brand Red Bull, has agreed a three-season extension to its partnership, covering the 2016-17 to 2018-19 campaigns, with an option to add a further two years to the deal. As the Liga’s exclusive free-to-air partner it will broadcast over 40 games live per season. (source)
